- Great Module for 1.2 GHz Review by WA6SVT
-
I have built several amplifiers using the RA18H1213G with good success. I have also upgraded a few of the Downeast Microwave's older 1.2 GHz bipolar 1.2 GHz amplifiers with great success as well. They work with all modes including QAM and QPSK digital modulation. For any AM, VSB or digital ATV modes you need to run the amplifier in back off mode to stay in the linear area. Depending on the crest factor of your digital mode, 2 to 3 watts average output per module is the normal output and AM or VSB analog is about 12 watts peak sync output. FM audio or ATV is full output of the module about 25 watts max for full key down operation.
